ABOUT Mariia

Photography has always been a part of my life since I was a little kiddo. Childhood photos and videos taken by my father sparked my love for photography, which stayed with me even after he passed.

Despite studying medicine in Ukraine, I pursued photography, working as a waitress to buy my first camera.

In 2014 I lost my home due to war and suddenly my life changed a lot. I had to balance my work to survive with my studies in medicine, which meant waking up early for classes and staying up late for retouching or studying photography. I learned as much as I could online and eventually got a job at a photography studio.

After earning master’s degree in medicine and a 1 year diploma in photography, I became a freelance photographer and moved to Canada, where I’ve already worked with BMW, Artinas Jewellery, Pamela Lauz Jewellery, Columbia College, Fairmont Whistler Hotel, Hazel's Ice Cream, Crystal Lodge Hotel, Oak Bay Beach Hotel, North Van Lash & Academy, and many more.

Looking back at my journey so far, I am incredibly grateful for all the experiences that have brought me to where I am today. As a professional photographer, I know that there is always more to learn and new challenges to overcome, but I am excited about the future and what it holds for me! I cannot wait to see where my passion for photography will take me next.

My favourite quote that absolutely describes my attitude towards photography is:

"If a day goes by without me doing something related to photography, it's as though I've neglected something essential to my existence, as though I had forgotten to wake up.”
